Pre- Adamic World and Roman 5:12-14

The Young Earth Creationist (YEC) movement has been and is a great fortress against the Satanic Darwin/evolutionary religion. I am appreciative and use much of their literature, thesis and analysis in my ministry. Nonetheless, when YEC use scripture as law they do error in the similitude of the Jews. The bible says it best:

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

We can miss part of the truth and hurt the cause of Christ when we harden interpretation into clubs just to fit our views. Like the Jews who cannot accept Jesus as the son of God and condemn the world to the letter of the law so YEC condemns even Christians that believe that Dinosaurs and materials of the earth (not life itself) are greater than 6000 years old.  Instead of sticking to the cause of Intelligent Design and recent creation of life they divide the movement by declaring that that such belief “invalidates the word of God” because if true, sin came into the world before Adam.

According to Russ Miller of “Evolution, Creation and Science Ministries” people who hold such teaching are “wolfs in sheep clothing” because how can we “tell children that dinosaurs died out millions of years ago” and have them “believe that Sin came through Adam ” as taught in Romans 5:12.  I don’t believe the Dinosaurs died out Millions of years ago but I do preach that they died out before this creation.  I object to being called a “wolf in sheep clothing”.  Let’s therefore take a look at this verse and the Pre-Adamic model.

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

This can be difficult verse in light of a pre-Adamic world. It takes some unbiased reading and understanding to properly interpret it. The problem is that this verse supports both the Adamic only creation model and the Pre-Adamic creation model. It is almost a "chicken and the egg" problem, which came first? Did Sin come first or did Adam? Close and honest study though will reveal the truth, the answer to this riddle.

Clearly, the "one man" who sinned is Adam and therefore it would appear that Death and Sin came into the "World" after Adam. Indeed, if one translates the Greek word 'kosmos' as the entire Universe, from the Stars to the atom for all time, then one must answer the riddle that Adam came before sin. The pre-Adamic world therefore must be a myth with its Monsters of Death and rebellion of Lucifer. At the very least one must conclude that “the Earth” was "perfect" before Adam sinned no matter how long that was.

However, a close examination of the scripture reveals that the world was not translated "universe" but into its more common usage "world".  The Greek word 'Kosmos' has many usages mostly to define the condition of "heaven and earth which are now (2pe 3:7)".  Similar to the English word "world", it was use to define everything from "our little world" to "the entire world" even the universe.

We get a clue that Paul means “the heaven and earth which are now" because he reveals that sin "entered" the world through Adam. It is a real stretch on logic to conclude that Adam created or made sin and by implication death. The syntax clearly indicates that Sin was around before Adam and "entered" into the world that now is. We have only to go to the Garden of Eden to verify this fact, for Lucifer was there already in a fallen state. Clearly, then Sin was in this world before Adam sinned but was not manifest. In other words had not entered “our World”.

Now if Sin where present even before Adam can death be far behind? I think not! Any logical and unbiased study of Ez 28:11-19 and Isa 12:14-16 shows that Lucifer had a kingdom and a following that were destroyed from among the "Stones of fire". Jesus proclaims that he saw the fall of Satan as he underscores his authority to the disciples. " I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven "  Luk 10:18.  My studies on demons and the dark world clearly indicate that they are ancient defeated enemies of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  Their cries are venomous against the Lord yet fearful of his judgments.

Now we have only to address whether this Kingdom was ever physical and in our reality. As I have indicated previously Ezekiel, Isaiah and Luke indicate it was. In Genesis 1, God clearly indicates that He had already created a heaven and earth prior to the "heaven and earth that now is".  This is commonly taught as the Gap theory and is well defended both by scripture and science.  Time and space do no allow me to re-write the excellent documentation and theology on the previous creation called the pre-adamic world. However, I have added some references in the bibliography for your further enlightenment.

I will nevertheless comment on one of the arguments that are on target. When God placed Adam and Eve on the restored earth he told them to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth (Gen 1:28) meaning to repopulate or refill. This is the very same word "replenish" that God told Noah and his family after the great Flood of Gen 6 and 7.  Again it is obviously indicated that the earth had been destroyed, probably by water, as indicated in Gen 1 verse 2 and 3 when it "became destroyed and wasted".

We now have the conditions that exactly fulfill Romans 5:12-14. A re-created world without Sin or death, "perfect", a paradise with Adam and Eve, yet sin is lurking at the door looking for opportunity to "ENTER" into the "world the now is".  Paul is simply telling us that Sin found it ways though Adam which allowed death to enter the present creation and that Sin was not imputed (this is a separate but great study on sin) on man until the Law was given.

In conclusion then, Ancient Dinosaurs and old earth material (i.e. greater that 6000 years old) do not invalidate the bible because of this verse but rather this verse invalidate a wrong YEC interpretation of creation. In fact the pre-Adamic creation provides previous existence and motive for Sin to "enter" into the new re-created world and therefore into our world, which better fits Romans 5:12-14. As a lawyer would say, pre-Adamic creation provides motive and opportunity for the crime describe in Gen: 3 and commented on in Romans 5:12-14.

Evolution, Creation and Science Ministries and other such YEC’s should focus on what they do best and that is to counter Darwinism and Evolution and Uniformtarinism  and not become legalistic about the age of the materials of this earth and the universe. God did not date his revelations, so age to an extent is interpretable and therefore a matter of the spirit and belief. The bible is not specific about how old the materials of the earth are, only that God Created them and God Created life and created them for a purpose.

This should be the united front of intelligent Design and Creationism against the enemy’s deception of Darwinism and Evolution. Age and dating discourse and studies should be held to proving that there has not been enough time for evolution to work even if this mechanism was sound (it’s not) and not limited to 6000 years. The “wolf in sheep clothing” should be leveled against those who deny creation by God and deny a Creator and not against those who simply seek the truth.
